The Fast Lane: A Mother's Story

by Jen Warneld

I chose Relode as a mom and as a believer. Here’s my story about why I chose Relode as a mom.

My job as a professional recruiter—sometimes working 90 hours a week—was great for me. Until I became a mom. I planned on going back to the office after my maternity leave, but deep down, I wanted to stay at home with my first child. That desire remained dormant until the morning I had to go back to work. The craziest thing happened. The phone rang before I got out the door. On the other end of the phone was a job offer to be a virtual recruiter and work from home.

I didn’t have to think about it too long.

That morning, I decided to become a virtual recruiter. This was my first professional crossroads. My life changed, because I got to work from home and take care of my family. But I still found myself putting in close to 90 hours a week working from home for the recruiting agency.

Years later, my life changed again. My son, Aiden, was diagnosed with autism at the age of seven. The bills skyrocketed to cover therapy and medical expenses, and I quickly realized I needed a new plan and a new way to generate income. As a mom, my spirit began to faint. I didn’t know what to do. My son required (and still requires) constant assistance, and a 90-hour workweek was not an option for me. I needed a flexible schedule and a significant income. I looked into selling various products (like jewelry, candles, and health products) so I could have a flexible schedule.

But those didn’t have the money my family needed.

A month after my son’s diagnosis, Relode came into the picture. Relode’s founder, Matt Tant, with whom I had worked in the past, called me. His start-up enterprise, Relode, offered me a new way of making income for my family with reasonable hours. He had done very well in staffing, and I trusted him. But it was still hard to believe. What’s the saying? “It sounds too good to be true.”

I joined Relode—an online recruiting marketplace—and as a Relode agent, I had the opportunity to showcase my recruiting skills and connect directly with hiring managers—all on demand. I could now choose when I wanted to work and how much to charge clients. No giving up hiring fees to an agency, no more working on contingent searches, no more working for weeks on a position (only to have a candidate come in second place), and no more risk.

Through Relode, clients pay for each task, so payment is guaranteed.

The crazy thing is I made over $3,000 in one month while working less than 20 hours a week! And the beauty of Relode’s online marketplace is I can choose to work on tasks that don’t require the phone. I had something that I could do on my laptop any time of the day, which was perfect for me. I could even work on tasks at night and get out of watching my husband’s favorite documentaries!

This is my story of how I found a way to pay the bills without having a 90-hour workweek. I thought I had to either stay in traditional recruiting or find something else, but Relode provided a third option. I could pay my bills, use my experience, and take care of my son too!

So, if you’re like I was—working on a new game plan to generate income—check out Relode.
